Coronavirus update US: COVID-19 cases in Florida rise by 3.7% vs. 7-day average of 5.5%

The confirmed number of coronavirus infections in the state of Florida increased by 3.7% on Monday, or 5,266, to a total of 146,341, the data published by the state's health department reported on Monday. The average increase of the previous seven days currently stands at 5.5%. 

Earlier in the day, unconfirmed reports showed that COVID-19 hospitalizations in the state of Texas rose by more than 7% on Monday.

Market reaction

Wall Street's main indexes gained traction on this headline. As of writing, the S&P 500 was up 1% on the day while the Dow Jones Industrial Average and the Nasdaq Composite were gaining 1.6% and 0.3%, respectively.
