Draghi's press conference: ECB had a 'rich' discussion on rates, QE
FXStreet (Łódź) - During the Q&A part of the press conference Mario Draghi remarks that there are still conventional measures at the Governing Council's disposal.
• He says that the decision to keep rates unchanged in April was not unanimous.
• There was disagreement on how recent, lower than expected inflation data should influence the medium-term outlook.
• Data releases uncertain due to late Easter holiday, which increases demand for services.
• “The longer inflation remains low the higher is the risk for inflation expectations.”
• The Governing Council will consider ways of designing QE.
• Negative interest rates were also widely discussed.
