US stocks open at record highs, Dow above 24K
• Optimism over a major tax overhaul underpins bullish sentiment.
• All three indices on track for solid monthly gains.
Major US equity indices set fresh all-time highs during early trade on Thursday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) moving conquering another milestone of 24,000.
The broader S&P 500 Index opened with gains of around 11-points and moved higher to 2,638, while tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite Index advanced around 25-points to 6,850, recovering some of the previous session's sharp losses.
All three major indices remain on track to end with solid monthly gains for November, with DJIA outperforming broader indices and looking at a monthly rise in excess of 2.0%. Meanwhile, the S&P 500 looking at a gain of roughly around 1% and Nasdaq is poised for 1.4% advance.
Renewed optimism over the prospects for a major tax overhaul has been one of the key factors supporting the buoyant sentiment. Hence, investors would continue tracking progress on the highly-anticipated US tax cut bill, with a full vote expected to take place by today evening.
