US: NAHB housing market index rises to 9-year high

The National Association of Home Builders reported Thursday that its housing market index rose to 70 in December, from a reading of 63 in November.

This reading was the highest level since July 2005 and beat expectations of 64.  A reading above 50 indicates more builders view conditions as good than poor.
