ECB raises ELA for Greece to €80.2 billion
FXStreet (Mumbai) - The European Central Bank (ECB) raised the emergency funding for Greek lenders on Wednesday, adding €200 million to the cash pool.
The ECB decision lifted a current cap on Emergency Liquidity Assistance (ELA) for Greece to €80.2 billion.
The latest increase is one of the smallest amounts approved by the ECB board, however, Greek lenders still have some unused liquidity funds left, totalling around €3.0 billion.
Meanwhile, Greek Kathimerini daily reported on Wednesday that the European Central Bank may go forward with small increases to the collateral’s haircut. However, such a decision should have no major impact on the capacity of Greek banks to obtain funds from the Eurosystem.
