DAX trades above 10,000

FXStreet (Mumbai) - The Germany’s Dax index rose above the 10,000 market today, fast approaching the record high of 10,050 levels.

The Dax traded 0.56% higher at 10,019 levels at the time of writing. The index breadth is positive with an advance-decline ratio of 27:3. The gains have been driven by Chemicals and Construction stocks which are up 1.12% and 0.87% respectively.

Among the index stocks, BASF SE is the biggest gainer so far, up by 1.92%, followed by Linde AG, which has gained 1.73%. Shares in Heidelbergcement AG., and Commerzbank AG gained 1% each. On the minus side, are shares in Lufthansa AG, which are down 1.22%, followed by a 0.52% fall in Adidas AG. Other losers include Fresenius ST, Deutsche Post AG, and RWE AG ST.

Dax Technical Levels

The index has an immediate resistance located at 10,050 levels, above which the index shall post fresh record highs. On the other hand, immediate support is seen at 9990-10000 levels, under which prices can fall to 9944 levels.

Fed rhetoric unchanged for now – BTMU

Derek Halpenny, European Head of Global Market Research at Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ, takes a cautious approach on the dollar into the year-end as he views that the fall in crude oil price might illicit the biggest shift in expectations on monetary policy from the Fed.
