Catalonia's independence push reinforced post-Scottish vote

FXStreet (Łódź) - In the wake of the Scottish independence referendum, Catalan president Artur Mas gave a press conference at Palau de la Generalitat in Barcelona during which he said he that would push with a similar vote in Catalonia, despite the opposition from the Spanish government.

"I will sign the decree for the consultation in Catalonia, in fact I will call this consultation for Nov. 9 as agreed some months ago with the majority of Catalan political forces," he said.
Mas expressed regret that Scotland finally didn't vote "yes", but he stressed that the most important thing was it could vote at all.

"This is a powerful and strong message that the UK is sending to the entire world - that if there is such a conflict elsewhere in the world you have the right way to try to resolve these differences," the Catalan president said. "So it is not a setback, it is a very positive message for us and should be for the central institutions in Madrid."
